About me
As an accredited person centred counsellor, I put empathy acceptance and the child at the heart of my practice. I have many years experience working with a wide range of clients and individual issues.
Seeing a counsellor for the first time can be daunting, especially if you are not sure what to expect. My aim is to provide a warm, calm, comfortable feel, offering a non-judgmental approach, with the purpose of building a client relationship of trust, confidentiality and respect, within which they can explore whatever they need to. I have experience with a wide variety of issues including anger, anxiety, divorce and separation, attachment, low self-esteem, lack of confidence and negative self-image.
Alongside working one-to-one with children I offer family support as I feel working with close family involved in the child’s life can enable family members to express and explore difficult thoughts and emotions safely, understand each other’s experiences and views, appreciate each other’s needs, build on family, strengths, and work together to make useful changes in their relationship and their lives. Research shows family therapy is used for children, young people, adults and older adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties and interpersonal issues and circumstances, across the family cycle. I am happy to work online with parents/carers or face-to-face.
I am a qualified Person-Centred Therapist and gained my counselling degree through the University of Cumbria. I adhere to the BACP code of ethics and attend monthly supervision which helps ensure good counselling standards are maintained.
I work with children/adolescents on a one-to-one basis. Family therapy can be discussed over the phone during the first consultation, together we can make an individual tailored plan to meet your requirements. I offer both daytime and evening appointments. My office is a safe private space away from the main house, conveniently located in Ulverston, South Cumbria, easily accessible and has off road parking.
